Why modernise not Replace?

OR5095
The simple fact is that the majority of all the lifts installed and that now require modernisation, have at least 50% of the installation which can still be used for a substantial number of years.
The main items which normally would need upgrading, refurbishment or replacement are:

  • Landing Doors
  • Cabin Doors
  • Cabin Door Operator & Landing Door Gears
  • Electrical & Electronic equipment
  • Switch-gear and Electrical Protective Devices
  • Hydraulic Fluid
  • Traction Ropes
  • Cabin Panelling
  • Cabin Lighting

Is this Safe?

Nowadays due to the constantly adjourned Lift regulations we have to make sure that all the lifts installed fall under the following EN-81 European Standards :

  • EN 81-1:1998+A3:2009
  • EN 81-2:1998+A3:2009
  • EN 81-80:2003
  • CEN TS 81-82:2008

This implies that all the lifts have to be fitted with the latest safety features which include:

  • Bi-directional telephone communication system
  • Alarm
  • Emergency evacuation devices
  • Progressive safety gear (activated both directions of travel)
